5. Kanchanaburi

10 Phanom Rung
This complex of Hindu shrines is situated on top of an extinct volcano in the region of northeast Thailand and was built to represent Mount Kailash, the sacred home of the god Shiva. It is one of the most important examples of Khmer architecture in the country and has more than a thousand years. In April, when the sun is
aligned through the 15 gates of the sanctuary, the park organizes a festival and visitors can camp in the area.
